Please Message Us!

Guys, we have a follower and supporter of Bring Back the Buzz that is going through a really rough time right now. He recently lost his newborn son to complications with a malformed vessel and not enough blood was able to get to the little guys heart. His friend contacted us and asked if we could help. We are trying to come up with a way to do something special for him and maybe get him out to a game. If anyone knows anyone in PR for the Cats or has any connections please send us a message.

This is the Christmas season and it would be nice to be able to reach out and help someone in our community.

Thank you!

Our Turn Charlotte!

For almost 3 years now we’ve been working to get the Hornets name back to the original Hive of its rebellion. For almost 3 years my Brother and I have been called almost every name imaginable, nostalgic, pipe dream smokers, delirious, and many more we cannot post! Our first fight was to let people know we are B**Cats fans. Though we have never been thrilled about the name because of how it represented Bob Johnson’s ego we have always supported the NBA in Charlotte and have wanted what is best for it to survive and thrive in the metropolis that we were born and raised in. We know what this city is capable of; we all witnessed it first hand with the Hornets.

Admittedly, when we started, this was a seemingly an unachievable goal. There was no news on possible NO name change or even discussions on blogs about it. Then we met John Morgan of We Beelieve. Suddenly we didn’t feel so crazy. There were more people that felt the same as we did. We had no experience in social media or how to run a campaign. The 3 of us started brainstorming and the idea that we all agreed upon was that we needed to take this movement off the computer screen and onto the streets. This is where the idea of the Swarm Time Warner was born. The mission was to find as many people crazy like us, get them in Hornets gear, and recreate as best we could the atmosphere of the ‘Ol Coliseum. This was a HUGE success. We erupted into the arena with “Charlotte Hornets” chants and carried them from the entrance to the nosebleeds. IT WAS MAGICAL! We were the loudest people in the arena. We ran into people who had no idea we existed and they happily joined in our cause. By the time the game was over we had a couple hundred people chanting in the lobby of Time Warner Cable Arena. Then the phone calls from radio and TV stations started flooding in. Charlotte Beelieved once more!

As if on cue New Orleans came under new management and rumors started floating to the surface of a NOLA rebrand. Understandably we freaked out! Over the past year everything has fallen into place! Tom Benson hinted at a new name, then, Benson unofficially said in David Stern’s face that it was happening. The assistant commissioner comes to Charlotte and while we are in the arena we get wind of discussions about a Hornets rebrand in Charlotte with Jordan himself. Jordan said that if the community showed interest that they would “look into it”. We find out NOLA’s colors for the team and then days later we have a name for NEXT SEASON….The Pelicans….!

This means the ball is in our court! The People have always been the backbone of this movement and they have done an amazing job. Such passion! We are now on the home stretch and our job is to plead like never before for this city’s history and identity back.

If you want this name back as bad as we do you have to get off your computer and join us on the streets! We will be holding another Swarm Time Warner event January 19th as we take on the Kings! It is imperative we show Jordan how WE feel! BRING BACK THE BUZZ!

Looks like the Hornets will be the Pelicans

The New Orleans Hornets are expected to change their nickname to the Pelicans as early as the 2013-14 season, numerous sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Hornets planned to change their nickname since Tom Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints, purchased the team on April 14. Benson also owns the rights to the nickname Pelicans.

The Hornets also considered the nicknames Krewe (groups of costumed paraders in the annual Mardi Gras carnival in New Orleans) and Brass.

Louisiana is the Pelican State. The brown pelican is the state bird and appears on the state flag and seal, and official state painting. Moreover, the Pelicans played minor league baseball in New Orleans in all but nine seasons from 1887-1959 and in 1977.

Gayle Benson, Benson’s wife, told Fox Sports New Orleans recently her preference for new team colors was navy blue, red and gold.

The Hornets came to New Orleans in 2002 from Charlotte. New Orleans has also had an NBA team called the Jazz, which moved to Salt Lake City in 1979.

Some fans of the Charlotte Bobcats are hoping to get their old Hornets nickname back. The Hornets began playing in Charlotte in 1988. Bobcats owner Michael Jordan told The Charlotte Observer he would consider changing it back to Hornets if the name was available.

Breaking News: The front page of ESPN.COM has caught wind of the movement!!

If the Hornets nickname becomes available, Charlotte might be intersted in getting it back.

When the Hornets moved to New Orleans in 2002, owner Tom Benson said that he would like to change the name to something more fitting of the Big Easy. Before Wednesday’s game, his wife Gayle reiterated that idea and added that the franchise would also like to change the team colors from teal and purple to red, gold and navy blue.

Bobcats owner Michael Jordan was asked if he’d be interested in bringing the Hornets name back to Charlotte.

“It’s definitely an interest down the road, but right now it’s the New Orleans Hornets,” Jordan told the Charlotte Observer. “We would definitely entertain the opportunity. That’s as much as we can say right now. We’ve heard the community ask the question, and we would listen.”

The newspaper reports that throwback Charlotte Hornets jerseys are popular among young fans in the area, and team web sites buzz with others who still prefer the name and color scheme of the Charlotte NBA team that started in 1988. But owners or fans won’t have the final say. The league issued a statement Wednesday saying that it is aware of the Hornets intentions but the ultimate decision on team names and colors resides with the NBA.
